The Passion Project Initiative’s mission is clear but it’s not easy. We create platforms that cultivate forward progress in our society through education empowerment and community engagement.
With our joined efforts, we develop and facilitate purposeful dynamic programs that empower the members of our community and events that help encourage social change and dialogue; While partnering with advocates who are passionate about social change.
It’s through these pillars of action, derived from our mission, that we seek to create a world that is better not just for us, but for every generation after us.
It’s our world and it’s our responsibility to help make it a better place for our children. That’s what we’re passionate about.

Octavia

FOUNDER & VISIONARY

Mother, wife, education activist, social change advocate, entrepreneur, and many other words could be used to describe Octavia Edwards, but none of them would fully capture her passion and drive. The oldest of nine children, Octavia has always been passionate about making the world a better place, and she has always been a leader who took initiative to be the change she wants to see.

ANISA

EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR

Anisat Shosan-President is a native of Moncks Corner, SC. She is the mother of two beautiful children. She is a graduate of Charleston Southern University with a Bachelor of Business Management. She has a Master of Finance and Accounting from Florida Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a Masters in Education. . She is currently a CTE Business Teacher at C.E. Williams Middle School where she teaches Entrepreneurship. She is passionate about working with the youth and focusing on community engagement. She is also the founder and director of Shining Starzz, a nonprofit for 6-8 graders that focuses on STEAM.

CANDICE

MARKETING DIRECTOR

Candice Cohen, is owner & founder of Cohen Brand Management, a Digital Marketing firm in Charleston, South Carolina, a Torch Award winner of the BBB Business of the year. Mom to three and cancer survivor, marketing and creative campaigns are what allows Candice to live her passion for helping small businesses, brands, and causes. Candice is a graduate of Claflin University with a BA Degree in Mass Communications. 

Joselyn

EVENT ORGANIZER

Joselyn Johnson is a Charleston native with a passion for serving her community. She holds a BS in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. Johnson started her career in human services as an AmeriCorps member serving in Trident United Way’s Financial Stability Project. Her service term fueled her desire to marry her love for event planning and community service.
